A stationery or invitation design business runs on proofs and revisions more than most service businesses this cluster covers: a client approves a design, asks for three small changes, approves again, and the whole cycle repeats before a single item goes to print. How each tool handles proofing, package line items, and legally binding sign off on a final version matters more here than in a single flat fee service.
| Attribute | Dubsado | HoneyBook |
|---|---|---|
| Plan structure | Two plans: Starter, Premier | Three plans: Starter, Essentials, Premium |
| Starting price | $335/year (Starter) | $36/mo (or $29/mo billed annually) |
| Free trial | 21 days, no card required, full Premier-tier access, capped at 3 projects rather than by calendar time | 7 days (30 days via some promo landing pages) |
| Proofing and revisions | Proofs feature lets clients leave feedback directly on an uploaded design and can be tied to a subcontract for a legally binding sign off on the final version | No dedicated proofing tool; revisions are typically handled through file attachments and message threads |
| Invoice line items | Edited via a dropdown, then an edit step; package items shown at equal visual weight | Quantity and price directly editable inline, which matters when a client changes an invitation quantity late |
| Public proposals | Clients can build their own job from a public proposal template rather than waiting on a custom quote | Proposal, contract, and invoice are combined into one document but are not client-editable in the same way |
| Mobile app | Browser only, no native mobile app | Full-featured mobile app; HoneyBook markets it as functionally equivalent to the desktop version |
| Payment processing | Runs on Stripe, with autopay and instant deposit | Runs on HoneyBook's own closed system, at a flat 3% processing fee |
| Bulk uploads | Slower, more manual per-item entry | Built for uploading multiple line items or products at once |
Pricing and features verified directly against Dubsado's public pricing page on 2026-08-26. HoneyBook's own pricing page returned an HTTP 403 to automated fetching, so its figures are cross-checked against independent third-party sources instead. See sources below. Both vendors change plans and pricing periodically; confirm current numbers before buying.
Dubsado's proofing and subcontract combination is built for exactly this workflow. A client uploads feedback directly onto a design proof, and a subcontract can require their sign off on the final version before it goes to print. That two step approval, feedback then binding sign off, is closer to how a stationery order actually moves than a generic file attachment and email thread.
HoneyBook edits faster when a quantity changes late. Stationery and invitation orders often change quantity right up to the print deadline, a guest count moves by ten, a client adds an extra thank you card design. HoneyBook's line items are directly editable in place; Dubsado requires opening a dropdown and a separate edit step for the same change. On a design with a dozen line items, that adds up across a season.
Dubsado's free trial is capped by project count, not by the calendar. Three full projects, worked start to finish at your own pace, is a better test for a stationery designer's actual proof and revision cycle than a fixed number of trial days, since a single order can take weeks to move through rounds of approval.
HoneyBook has the mobile app if you approve proofs from your phone. Stationery designers who review client feedback between print runs or on the go get a fully featured app from HoneyBook. Dubsado is browser only.
